Destin is a city located in Okaloosa County, Florida. It is a principal city of the Crestview–Fort Walton Beach–Destin, Florida, metropolitan area.

Located on Florida’s Emerald Coast, Destin is known for its white beaches and emerald green waters. Originating as a small fishing village, it is now a popular tourist destination. According to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, over 80 percent of the Emerald Coast’s 4.5 million visitors each year visit Destin. The city styles itself “The World’s Luckiest Fishing Village”, and claims to have the largest fishing vessel fleet in the state of Florida.

Stunning white beaches, challenging golf and world-famous fishing define the Emerald Coast city of Destin.

Snuggled against the Gulf of Mexico in northwest Florida, Destin is rightfully famed for its sugar-white sands and emerald-hued waters.

These are the most spectacular things that you can do in Destin:

1. Henderson beach state park

Perhaps the biggest draw to Henderson Beach State Park – aside from its relaxed atmosphere – is the sugar-white sand beach, made up of pure Appalachian quartz. The sand not only remains cool in the summer sun, but it gives the pristine waters an emerald cast. Offering a welcome change of pace from the crowded and hotel-backed beaches closer to the resorts, this easily accessible, safe and clean oasis offers nature trails, spots for grilling, and picnicking and campsites. Recent visitors loved the area’s peaceful atmosphere and highly recommended travelers make a stop here.

2.Destin Harbor Boardwalk

Stretching nearly a quarter of a mile along the beautiful Destin Harbor, The City of Destin’s Harbor Boardwalk provides extensive access to the waterfront and helps preserve the harbor’s unique character. The boardwalk features beautiful landscaping, lighting, and seating, as well as a number of local restaurants and rental businesses.

Every October, the harbor becomes a bustling hub of activity when it hosts both the annual Destin Seafood Festival and the annual Destin Fishing Rodeo. Four public parking lots are situated within a 5-10 minute stroll of the boardwalk, and all are free of charge.

But my favorite part is always been the giant Aquarium. It’s a can’t miss for families that love dolphins and seals and turtles and sharks and stingrays. Well pretty much anything that comes from the Gulf they’ve got it. Enjoy
